Ukraine, the bread basket of Europe, was chosen as the Group's first foray into commercial
Famring as it has considerable potential for the development of farming. Fertile soils and
large areas of arable lands provide a necessary natural fit. Moreover, Ukraine's good
geographical location and a large domestic market allows Emmsons to trade considerable volumes
and control the value chain in terms of quality and delivery for Exports and the local market.
The company, on very long term leases, has 7500 hectares of land under active cultivation of -
Oilseeds
Wheat
Barley
Sorgham
Yellow Peas.
The Group's crops are sold when harvested or stored in the Group's storage facilities for
later sale to the Ukrainian domestic market, Middle East and South East Asia. The Group's
Ukrainian land bank is organised in a cluster which reduces production and logistics costs and
is located close to the city of Nikolaev and port of Yuzhny which provides access to required
infrastructure and personnel.
The group is focused on expanding its Ukrainian activities and continuing to establish itself
as a substantial producer of agricultural products in the region and beyond. Emmsons continues
to expand its leasehold land bank and the Directors intend to increase its cultivated land to
50,000 hectares in the long term. But the firm focus remains on setting up a Farming model,
which is scalable and able to add a lot of value to the customers and stakeholders alike.
